Dan Connell – Managing Director (e-mail: "dconnell")

Dan Connell is a second year MBA Candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management.  Prior to Sloan, Dan served as a Naval Intelligence Officer across the Middle East and Asia in a variety of roles.  His last assignment prior to completing his military service was with the Joint Chiefs of Staff Intelligence Directorate in Washington, DC.  A joint student with the Harvard Kennedy School of Government's MPA program, Dan is focused on energy finance, smart grid implementation, and energy regulatory policy.  Dan holds a BA in History from Seton Hall University.


Jorge Elizondo – Content Co-Director (e-mail: "jelizon")

Jorge Elizondo is a PhD student in Electrical Engineering and part of the Laboratory of Electromagnetic and Electronic Systems. His current research involves the experimental study of transient stability of Microgrids with renewable energy sources after a fault on the grid. At the same time, he is the co-founder and development coordinator for a company that creates and commercializes small wind turbines and controllers for renewable sources in the kW range. He holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Physics from Tecnologico de Monterrey, in Mexico.


Jan Eide – Content Co-Director (e-mail: "janeide")

Jan Eide is a Master’s student in the Technology and Policy Program at MIT where his research focuses on how to better design a carbon capture and storage demonstration program. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Institut National des Sciences Appliquees (INSA) in Toulouse, France. In last year’s conference, he helped organize the panel entitled “Managing the Shale Gas Revolution." Outside the MIT Energy Community he is also a Fulbright scholar and has a background in politics from being a political advisor to the commissioner of Health and Social Services in Bergen, Norway.


Sadia Raveendran – Content Co-Director (e-mail: "sravee")

Sadia Raveendran is a second-year Master’s student in the Technology and Policy Program at MIT. Her research at the MIT Energy Initiative is focused on financing and related challenges of carbon capture & storage (CCS) projects and the role of CCS in a carbon mitigation portfolio. She received a Bachelors degree in Physics and Economics from Wellesley College. Prior to MIT, Sadia worked in Business Development at The Tata Power Company Limited in India wherein she evaluated opportunities in the solar power sector. She helped organize the Bridging the Bridge to a Solar Powered Future for the 2012 MIT Energy Conference, and is excited to be involved as a Content Director this year.


Alice Chao – Marketing Director (e-mail: "akchao")

Alice Chao is a second-year Master’s student in the Technology and Policy Program at MIT and an Energy Fellow at the MIT Energy Initiative.  Her research at the MIT Energy Initiative and with the Sloan Automotive Laboratory focuses on examining the prospects for alternative fuel vehicles particularly on the strategic use of natural gas in the transportation sector.  Prior to MIT, Alice worked at Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu, P.C., an intellectual property law firm based in New York and in energy consulting at Charles River Associates in Boston.  Alice holds a B.A. in Economics and Premedical Sciences from Columbia University.


Ryan Shields – Sponsorship Director (e-mail: "rshields")

Ryan Shields is a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Before MIT, he worked as an engineer at National Grid, where he focused on long-term planning for the electric distribution system in New York and Rhode Island and designing technical plans for an off-shore wind project in New England. Prior to National Grid, Ryan worked in consulting, on a project to create the first competitive electricity market in Ireland. Ryan received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and his M.S. in Power Systems Management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.


Camille Baelden – Operations Director (e-mail: "cbaelden")

Camille Baelden is a second year PhD student in the department of Mechanical Engineering. He is conducting his research in the Sloan Automotive Laboratory where he focuses on improving lubrication and reducing mechanical losses in Internal Combustion Engines. Before coming to MIT, Camille graduated from INSA Lyon (National Institute of Applied Sciences) in 2009 with a Masters of Engineering and went on to work for PSA Peugeot Citroën in their engine research department. He joined the 2011 Energy Conference organizing team to take part in the dynamic energy community at MIT. Camille is also involved with the MIT European Club for which he serves as president since 2012.


Kavita Baba – Showcase Co-Director (e-mail: "kbaba24")

Kavita Baba is a first-year MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to Sloan, she worked as an engineer at Shell in Martinez, CA, supporting the operations of many refinery processes to assure safety, environmental compliance, reliability and margin capture. Her interests in the energy industry lie in optimization and efficiency improvements. Kavita holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. At Sloan, Kavita is also an active member of the Operations Management Club and the Management Consulting Club.


Janak Raguraman – Showcase Co-Director (e-mail: "janak")

Janak Raguraman is a first year MBA student at MIT Sloan, with interests in Energy & Consulting. He is a member of the Energy Club, a Director of Energy & Environment at the Sloan Policy Forum, and an active member of the Sloan Management Consulting Club.  Prior to coming to Sloan, Janak worked for a global energy company, where he developed innovative strategies to reduce life-cycle costs at utility power plants around the world. He received an undergraduate engineering degree from one of India’s top schools, and a graduate degree from Purdue University, both in Mechanical Engineering.
